ALL READY TO GO!
The classes, the checklists, the doctor visits, the vials of blood drawn and analyzed… the X-rays, scans, tests… it’s all done. Odel has pre-registered for the hospital admission, which is scheduled for the gawd-awful hour of 5 am tomorrow. His bag is packed, checked, and double –checked. He has watched the DVD we received from the hospital, and we’ve gathered the equipment we are most likely to need (and that fits in an RV).
Latest word from the surgeon, after the most recent X-rays, is that a partial knee replacement is a good possibility, with fewer days in the hospital and a faster recovery schedule – welcome news. Pre-surgery instructions call for a shower tonight, and one tomorrow morning (which means 4 am to make that 5 am admission!) with special attention to his feet (bacteria removal)! No food after midnight.
We took a leisurely walk along the levee in the sunshine today; Odel couldn’t stop hamming it up when I wanted a photo. He is in good spirits, ready to get this over with. It will be so nice this summer to be able to walk pain-free!
P.S. (edited at 4:22 am as we get ready to leave for the hospital): In a burst of true love and dedication, I learned how to dump the black water tank! No crawling around on his knees for awhile… :)
God bless the surgeon and all those involved tomorrow! And praying for a quick recovery and results beyond your expectations!!!

It will be wonderful to have it all done and to onto the recovery! When he gets all through with the knee-bender machine, the PT, the grabbers, the cane and the easy chair, he'll be in fine fetter!

ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK ODEL...I KNOW YOU WILL DO FINE BECAUSE YOU WILL OBEY THE DOC!! WHAT A WOMAN THAT LAURIE IS...DUMPING BLACK TANKS..YOU GO GIRL...SENDING GOOD KARMA TO ODEL!!!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a speedy recovery. Dumping the tanks is a lot easier for me than checking the tire pressures. ;P
ReplyDeleteThinking of you. Good Luck and here's hoping for a speedy and pain free recovery.
ReplyDeleteWow - bacteria inspection too? Well, things are done differently in different places, but I'm sure that Odel's knee replacement will be different from the ones the two of us had. We never had to worry about feet! Other than that they were still there. Best wishes to Odel for speedy recovery, and best wishes for you as you have a little more to do for a while, including pulling that black tank valve occasionally!
ReplyDeleteWe will be waiting to watch & see how the surgery and recovery go. Prayers coming your way!
ReplyDeleteGood luck and my thoughts will be with you. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteYea, Laurie! I'm proud of you for learning to do the "black job!" Best wishes for success in surgery (it may be done by now) and a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your surgery tomorrow Odel. Remember to do what the Doc and PT person tells you to do. Have had both of mine replaced, doing well.
ReplyDeleteYou are both going to be very busy for awhile as Odel does his exercises and Laurie adds taking care of his chores to her list. But, please, post a quick blog when you find time and energy to do so just to let us know everything's OK. We care.
ReplyDeleteSending you and Odel good thoughts. Hope the surgery goes well and his recovery is quick.
ReplyDeleteSo glad for Facebook, Laurie. I was able to see the post on the iPhone even before I managed an internet connection, so know the good outcome to Odel's morning! yayayay and hooray for Odel!
ReplyDeleteHaving seen Malone's comment, I gather all went well with the surgery. Sending wishes for a speedy recovery.
